It’s with great pride and appreciation that I share this foreword for the 2026 edition of the Wine Estate Challenge, which was yet another exceptional one. Over the years, the Challenge has become far more than a sporting event; it has become a celebration of camaraderie, healthy competition, and the meaningful connections that endure long after the final putt.
PwC’s continued association with this gathering of distinguished business leaders remains a true privilege. Each year, the Challenge brings together a diverse and dynamic group of participants who reflect the evolving, inclusive spirit of our business community.
This year, we were proud to welcome 96 players to the field, a fitting tribute to the late Sarel Liebenberg, whose vision gave life to this unique and enduring tournament. Oom Sarel, who passed away in 2023, is fondly remembered, and his legacy lives on through the shared enjoyment that defines this event.
Now in its 29th year, the Wine Estate Challenge stands as a remarkable tradition. My sincere thanks go to our esteemed winemakers, Beyers, Kevin, Anri, and Thomas, for your generosity, continued support, and commitment to this event. Your involvement plays a vital role in preserving the spirit and excellence of the Challenge.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Anton van Wyk and Deon Storm, together with the invaluable support of Tammy Marshman and Asheeqah Adams, for once again leading the planning and execution of the event with such dedication and professionalism.
To The River Club, thank you for your exceptional hospitality year after year. And to each participant, thank you for the role you continue to play in shaping and sustaining this legacy.
As always, golf proves to be more than just a game. It’s a bridge to meaningful conversations, lasting relationships, and shared experiences—ensuring that everyone walks away with far more than a scorecard, and memories that truly matter.
